Whatever is the instruction of our Guru, we should follow it strictly. We should not think of anything else, except Guru. Thus the mind is to be surrendered to the Guru.

I bow to the lotus feet of Sai and consider His Padaseva as the goal of life. It is an inexpressible bliss to utter Guru Sai’s name. I always wish to meditate only on Sai’s boundless virtues.
It is the Guru who is the creator Brahma, the protector Vishnu and the preceptor of the world Lord Shiva. But, Guru is all, Trinity incarnate, Guru Datta.

Guru’s form is endless and pervading the whole universe. By worshipping his feet, a devotee gets into contact with the supreme Parabrahma.

A Guru is an embodiment of gnana and shakti (spiritual power and self-realizations). He wears the garland of supreme wisdom. He is the bestower of bhakti and mukti that is worldly happiness and comforts, and spiritual happiness, eternal bliss and sakshatkara of God. Let us see how the utter faith is the Guru is expounded in these shlokas.

One cannot obtain self-realization without Guru’s grace. Only by the grace of Guru, who is the ocean of mercy, a devotee realizes the goal of life.

The above illustrations from H. H. Narasimha Swamiji’s Sainatha Mananam clearly focusses our attention on the straight road (that is the Guru marga) on which we have to tread upon to reach eternity or God. We have to be careful as unknown and ambiguous paths will lead to unknown places.

Kabir Das too views the same and repeatedly sings on the glory of God.
Let us, surrender ourselves completely to our Guru who is above material pleasures, who has stripped himself off or self-conceit and who is always immersed in God.

Kabir considers Guru, the immediate rescuer, greater than Govinda. He says that he has come to this conclusion as a result of deep thinking. If one remembers Hari at the time of his passing away from this world or similar critical situations in this worldly life, there may be delay in getting the relief we receive. But, if we seek the help of Guru and remember him, in no time our Guru will help us cross the ocean of samsara that is bhava sagar.

This doha of Kabir explains the real situation. Guru’s power is immense and in these three worlds and nine khandas, no body is greater than Guru. Even God does not go against the wish of Guru. The Sadguru’s decision prevails over God’s wish.

Thus there are volumes of literature which speak the merit and selfless services of a Guru. An incident often quoted in this connection is, Baba’s advice to a rich lady who carried a plate full of rupees and begged Baba to make Himself her Guru and give upadesha. But, Baba revealed to her the Guru marga trod upon by so many. It is not the Guru that makes himself one’s Guru. It is we who must identify a Sadguru and regard him as our Guru and pour our utter faith and love on him. Like Ekalavya, one must completely surrender oneself to the Guru.

It is rare to get a Sadguru like Shirdi Sai Baba. A Sadguru is a highly qualified preceptor and who is God incarnate and is the Guru of Guru’s. A Samartha Sadguru’s Avatar is not the usual incarnation. (As stated in the Bhagvad Gita, whenever there is a trial for righteousness, and thriving for wrong doings, God descends into this world to protect the virtuous and to punish the wicked.) But, Guru Avatars are remarkable as it is only to protect people in this world and help them enjoy supreme bliss in the world of eternity.

To sum, all these illustrations prove the fact that Guru’s grace is our only sadhana. Jnana comes as experience. So, on this auspicious Guru Poornima, let us worship our Samartha Sadguru Sai Baba by constantly remembering that Sayeesha is the Same as Lord Venkatesha.

Let us try to establish contact with Sai Baba by constantly doing Nama Japa, “Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai” in mind and worship Him with devotion. Sai is always there showering His benign blessings upon ardent devotee who approaches Him in the right manner. Sai Baba is ever present and near us and will assuredly respond to our call.

सोर्स: http://www.shrisaibabasansthan.org/ (Saimani R. Baba repeatedly stresses the greatness and powers of a Sadguru. Self-realization is impossible without Guru’s anugraha. As Baba Himself quotes the example of three spiritual aspirants (sadhakas) who full of ego thought that they could cross the thick forest of worldly life using their intellect and physical power. They, overpowered by self-conceit did not pay heed to the advice and the voluntary help offered by the vanazary (merchant selling oil and grain, in this context it refers to a Sadguru). The three were wandering around and around the thorny thicket without finding a way to come out. But the fourth sadhaka was a wiser one. He gratefully accepted the voluntary help of the vanazari and got rid of his anxieties, worries and fear. He enjoyed walking through the forest holding the hand of the vanazari and came out of it quietly and safely. The vanazari referred to here by Baba is the Sadguru and his commitment to help the sadhakas. The relationship between the Guru and the disciple is subtle. As Baba says in His ‘Charters and Sayings’.

“I wanted nothing but the Guru and He wanted nothing but the intense love from Me. I meditated on nothing but the Guru and had no goal or object other than the Guru. Unceasingly fixed upon Him was My mind. He always protected Me by His glance. That Guru never blew any mantra into My ear. By His glance I attained to My present State.”

Baba’s Guru marga is crystal clear and gives all importance to Guru. Kabir’s doha substantiates this view.

If both Lord Govinda and our spiritual Guru stand before us, whom should we worship first ? Kabir says, “We are highly indebted to our Guru; because it is only our Guru who tells us about God and takes us to God. But, for our Guru, we know nothing about Paramatma. In this respect the Guru is considered greater than Govinda.

In all religions, the Sadguru, who is the messenger of God has a unique position. In Christianity, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, also referred to as the messenger of God is a Samartha Sadguru and at times Christ Himself says, “There is no difference between Me and My Father.” Jesus came and spoke unto them saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.
The glorious Quran though utters the word prophet to refer to Mohammad Nabi, his place is also that of a messenger of God, a Samartha Sadguru. All incarnations, prophets, sages, saints have their Gurus however great they might be. Guru marga and Guru Avatars are to help the suffering souls. Sai Baba descended into this world as Avatara Purusha with such powers to save people from the perils of bhava sagar or the cycles of births and deaths. Sai Baba Himself revealed the aim of His Avatar as to achieve Hindu-Muslim unity, to establish a society above the petty feelings of religion, cast and social difference. The core of Baba’s Guru marga is very clear and simple. Faith in the Guru, and what cannot be absorbed by knowledge, study of scriptures, pilgrimage, or by observing fasting and rituals is easily got by the grace of Guru. A mere touch, or look from the Guru redeems all our sins.

Quotations from Kabirdas, Vedanta Deshika, Shankara and Poojya Sri Narasimha Swamiji will give us a glimpse of the kind of devotion, a sadhaka should have towards his Guru. H. H. Narasimha Swamiji gives us the following advice, (కంటిన్యూ...)

सोर्स: http://www.shrisaibabasansthan.org/ (Saimani R. The One Who filled His stomach by begging for food, how could He have any grandeur ?
But the Fakir was generous by nature. Never expecting anything in return and loving, outwardly He looked wavering but was inwardly steadfast. His behaviour was impossible to understand.
In such an ordinary (mean) village, there were some fortunate people who were kind by nature and who regarded Him as a Saint.
Tatya Kote’s mother, whose name was Bayjabai, would put some bhakris in a basket and carry it on her head and go into the woods in the afternoon

She would walk for miles, searching in the woods for the mad fakir, trampling upon the thick foliage and bow down to His feet on finding Him.
How can one describe the strength of her devotion ! Dry or curried vegetables and bhakri she fed Baba with her hands, in the woods, in the noon or late afternoon.
This austere devotion of hers was also not forgotten by Baba during His lifetime. Keeping the past in mind He blessed her son with good fortune. Both the husband and wife had great faith in the Fakir indeed. The Fakir only was their God; God lives in the faith of the devotee, doesn’t He ?
The Fakir would be in meditation. Then Bayjabai would lay out the leaf (which served as a plate), serve the food from the basket, and make efforts to feed Him.
“Fakiri is true kingship. Fakiri alone will last forever. Look how evanescent is wealth.” Baba said this always !
Later on Baba abandoned the woods। He began to stay in the village and accepted food in the Masjid. Thus He put an end to the mother’s troubles.

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Failure and Success by Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

YOU have to busy yourselves with activity in order to use time and skill to the best advantage.
'Shraddha' is a Sanskrit word, which roughly means faith with love and reverence. Such faith or trust is generated out of conviction, which may not be the result of any rational belief or intellectual wisdom, but a spiritual inspiration. According to Sai Baba of Shirdi, steadfast love in God is the gateway to eternity. Baba's teaching, both direct and indirect explicate the significance of 'Shraddha'. Baba reiterates the spiritual guidance of Shri Krishna to Arjun - "Whosoever offer to Me with love or devotion, a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, that offering of pure love is readily accepted by Me".
Saburi
'Saburi'; means patience and perseverance. Saburi is a quality needed throughout the path to reach the goal. This quality must be ingrained in a seeker from day one, least he looses his stride and leaves the path half way.
Purity
For Sai Baba it was not the purity of the body but inner purity that mattered. No amount of physical and external cleansing would serve any purpose if the man remained impure in mind and heart. Therefore, Baba cautioned His devotees not to make austerity as an end itself, lest they should indulge in physical mortification.
Compassion
Himself an epitome of compassion and love, Sai Baba taught compassion among his disciples. Baba often told His devotees, 'Never turn away anybody from your door, be it a human being or animal'.
Complete Surrender to the Guru
Sai Baba put Guru on a high pedestal of reverence. For Him Guru was the profound base of the path of devotion. Pointing to his physical frame, "This body is my house. I am not here. My Guru (Master) has taken me away". He asked for complete surrender to the 'Guru'.
Udi
Udi or the sacred ash was produced from the perpetual fire called 'dhuni' lit by Sai Baba in Dwarkamai at Shirdi. Explaining the meaning of life He would refer to Udi and taught that like Udi all the visible phenomena in the world are transient. Through this example Sai Baba wished to make his devotees understand the sense of discrimination between the unreal and the real. Udi taught the devotees discrimination or vivek.
Dakshina
Sai Baba would demand 'Dakshina' or alms from those who visited him. This explained the sense of non-attachment to worldly things. Hence dakshina taught the devotees non-attachment or Vairagya.

[Source: Writeup collected from http://www.shirdi.org.uk/teachings.html

Picture from www.eenadu.net]

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha
SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Poornananda Swami

Swamiji was born to a devout Tamil Brahmin couple, Sri Subrahmanya Iyer and Smt. Parvatavardhini, on the 1st of November, 1939 in the beautiful temple-town of Madurai. He was lovingly named 'Kameswaran' - an appellation of Lord Siva in his aspect as the Merciful Fulfiller of the Heartfelt Desires of devotees. Kameswaran was recognized, by one and all, as a divine child and extraordinary incidents signalized his birth and childhood. Infact his noble birth was foreseen and long-awaited by great siddhas and jnanins of those times.

During his early boyhood, Kameswaran's parents shifted to Sattur village, near Ramnadi district, where he finished his primary education. He grew up as a brilliant boy endowed with a razor-sharp intellect and an uncommon devotion for God. Under the training of his father, Sri Subrahmanya Shastri, who was a great jnani and an unparallelled authority at mantrashastra, Kameswaran mastered ominifarious techniques of worship and plumbed the very depths of the ocean of mantrasastra. By the time Kameswaran appeared for his SSLC examinations, he was already steeped in austere spiritual sadhana. Sri Subrahmanya Shastri, who was a trikalagna, foresaw Kameswaran's great destiny. So, he spared no efforts in preparing his godly son for the glorious future that awaited him. Occasionally, Kameswaran would even leave for the forests and woods to practise deep meditations. But familial responsibilities kept a check on his zeal for renouncing everything and going away for tapas. Also his father would tell him time and again that the opportune moment for tapas was yet to come.
Kameswaran would often accompany his father to Kallidaikurichi during the Navarathri festival. This is the place where Sri Subrahmanya Shastri's Guru, Sri Neelakantha Deekshitar, resided. Throughout the Navarathris, both father and son would be put up at Sri Deekshitar's house. During those times, Kameswaran had befriended a young boy named Krishnasankar, who was a native of Kallidaikurichi. Krishnasankar would often accompany Kameswaran to the banks of the river Tamraparni in the early hours of the morning, where, Kameswaran would perform the sandhyavandana. On the way to the Tamraparni and back, Krishansankar would notice that elderly pundits and scholars would respectfully salute Kameswaran. Some would even prostrate before him! Though Krishnasankar, too, was impressed by Kameswaran's angelic personality, he would wonder why even such learned elders of those times, who were themselves grandmasters at scriptural knowledge, exhibited such utter reverence for Kameswaran. He would innocently ask Kameswaran if he there was some secret speciality in him. But Kameswaran would reply, "Oh! No! There is nothing of that sort. Who knows ? Maybe my Guru (father) is making me appear like some kind of ethereal being to all of them". Such was Kameswaran's humility. However, to the discerning few, his flowering divinity was clearly noticeable.

                  Source: http://swamipoornananda.org/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha

SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Baba's assurance

"If one ever meditates on Me, repeats My name, sings My deeds, and is thus transformed into Me, one's karma is destroyed. In Delhi and adjoining areas, quite a good number of beautifully constructed Sai Temples with Baba's full-size marble idols blessing his ever - growing devotees on the principles of Shirdi Sai Sansthan are coming up progressively well. Thousands of devotees, of various castes and creeds, irrespective of sex or age, collect in these temples on every Thursday rendering morning to evening arties before the Lord of Lords.

In addition, Sai Bhajans which have always played a vital role in spreading Baba's name and fame, are regularly held in several homes of the devotees, particularly in the major towns, including NOTDA. Large number of people participate in such bhajans and yearn for perpetual mental and spiritual peace.

Customarily, at the end of bhajans and keertans, Baba's blessings in the shape of "prasad" is distributed amongst one and all participants. Prasad is invariablly in the form of eatables, normally sweets, either bazar made like "ladoos", or "barfi" or home-cooked like "halwa" or "puri-sabzi", on the wishes and resources of the sponsorer-house holders. But the most appropriate "prasad" on all such occasions should be "UDI" which cost practically nothing and is easily affordable even by a poor devotee. On the other hand, it is the most sacred Sai-blessing.
Udi was originated by Baba himself. It was not just the ashes produced as a result of burning fuel which Baba used to throw in the "Dhuni" — the sacred fire which he kept ever burning. It was blessed and freely distributed by Baba himself, not only as a cure for many physical and mental maladies but also to spread deep, thought-provoking spiritual lessons which the "faqir" had for the worldly people.

UDI was inter-aliameant to convey as a forceful reminder of the universal truth that our bodies are composed of elements wood and would eventually be reduced to ashes in due course. It was, thus, Baba's sacred prasad which He gave His devotees in their hands and besmeared some of it on their foreheads placing His boon-conferring hand on their heads.

Shri Sai Satcharita, particularly the Chapters 33 and 34, is rich with miracles explaining the greatness of UDI. It is very difficult to ignore any one of them while recollecting them all. Even now, when Sai Baba is physically not present with us in Shirdi sans than, UDI obtained by perpetual burning of Dhuni day in and day out at Shirdi Mandir, continues to be pious as ever. Sai devotees make it a convenient practice to keep enough of it with them and use it regularly in the Puja as Sai Blessing to get over sundry ailments.

It is said that in the case of non-availability of UDI, ash obtains from any other source and utilised with prayers serves the same purpose. The incident of Bubonic Plague case quoted in Shri Sai Satcharita is a vivid explanation of this factual statement. A similar incident occurred to me a few years ago which I like to share with my Sai-devotee friends :-

While on deputation to Bhutan Engineering Service, I was posted to Chukha, an out-of-way, inaccessible, lonely and remote area place on the bank of river Chukha, by my Chief Engineer, probably to teach me a lesson. But it proved to be a blessing in disguise as I was able to concentrate myself daily by perching over and meditating for hours together on the big boulders lying majestically within the river torrents.

There was a small contigent of office employees staying in tents or other make-shift accommodation. There was otherwise no trace of any human presence in or near that area. Everyone wanted to get rid of that god-forsaken place by hook or crook. After my posting there, the Chief Engineer started transferring them abruptly to better places, one by one, ordering me to take over the respective charge. In the process, he also transferred the compounder-cum-doctor making me, as usual, to take charge of his so-called medical chest. However, I used to apply Baba's UDI as and when any body fell ill. In fact, the "patients’' would always turn to me for UDI instead of any other available medicine.

Once, while returning to the camp late in the evening from the river bed, my companion, the head clerk, fell down about 10' in a ditch. He suffered several injuries, not serious but painful enough to stand up and walk. Unfortunately," at that time I did not have UDI which generally I used to keep with me. Recollecting Shri Sai Satcharita I took some sand in my hand, prayed to Baba and applied it on his forehead as well at the injuries. Practically within no time, the injured head clerk was able to get up and started limping to the camp where he was given other possible treatment too. UDI IS GREAT.

"The Greatness of UDI is due to greatness of Baba"

Souce:saileelas

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

On Gurus and the Path of Baba

Stray Thought! on Various Aspects of Sai Worship
On Gurus and the Path of Baba
(Adopted from Scribbings of a Shirdi Sai Devotee)

All His life, Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi lived a most frugal, unassuming and simple life. He lived in a dilapidated mosque, wore a torn Kami, slept with a brick under His head, begged His food from a few houses every day and shared it with the poorest of the poor and animals alike. All those claiming to be His Avtar or Guru / Sadguru in His name but who live a life absolutely contradictory to the life of Baba, could they be deemed to be near about Baba? These Avtars and Gurus ride big limousines, wear silken robes; live in splendour in big palatial buildings, remain inaccessible to an ordinary poor devotee and at every step differentiate between the rich and poor, the high and the low. Are they really espousing the principles Baba stood for? Let both the Gurus and the devotees ponder calmly on what they are doing. No aspersion or denigration of anybody is intended but doesn't it provide food for thought?

*******

Towards the later part of His earthly life, Baba accepted Dakshina from devotees coming for His darshan. Large sums of money were thus collected. Baba distributed this money amongst those around Him and whatever was left, He would empty His pocket before going to sleep saying "Enough of it; go and bury yourself." The Gurus of today as also those running temples in Baba's name, are all collecting huge amounts of money from the public and in most cases piling these up in banks or spending them on adding more glamour to their temples / ashrams, to keep their name and fame going. They spend little, if any, on humanitarian activities for the upliftment of the poor and the needy who were so dear to Baba. Let us ponder calmly if this is the path shown by Baba? Moreover, the money so accumulated, becomes the cause of infighting amongst the management in temples and ashrams and an ordinary devotee who visits these places to find solace at the feet of Baba or to pray to Him and seek from Him answers to his problems of life, fails to experience the peace and serenity which such a place should exude, if there were no conflicts in the minds of the management. Surely even mental reservations pollute the atmosphere and affect the vibrations of the place.

A thought has always agitated my mind as to how a Guru or Sadguru could bring himself round to accept the situation in which his own picture is kept and worshipped on the same pedestal as that of Baba? One must have taken to the path of Baba by becoming a devotee initially and later elevated himself to the stature of Guru / Sadguru. It is unimaginable and beyond comprehension that a pure devotee would ever allow his own picture to be kept and worshipped on the same platform along with that of his Aradhya'. There has been a large galaxy of sages and saints in India who in their own life time reached godhood, for example; Ramana Maharishi, Ramakrishna Paramhamsa, Nam Deo, Tukaram, Eknath Maharaj, and many others. In their life time they did rot allow their own picture to be worshipped along with that of their chosen deity.
According to our scriptures (in this case Sai Satcharita) only the one who is capable of making us dwell in the self and taking us beyond the ocean of wordly existence, is in fact capable of being our sadguru. Have the gurus of today reached this stage?

Baba had, in His lifetime, stated that His Guru had not given Him any Guru Mantra. How could then He be expected to give one to any devotee. The gurus of today many a time give Guru Mantra to their followers. Are they following Baba in thought and deeds?

I sometimes wonder if Baba's own way of living and functioning has lost relevance today or I, an ordinary person striving to be His bhakta, is unable to understand the purport of His life and living. I shall be extremely grateful if somebody could throw some light on this subject. My experience onto the path of Sai bhakti has instilled in me a feeling that it is easier to be a Guru but extremely difficult to be a Bhakta. I wish, I am wrong. This feeling of mine has been corroborated by a remark made by Shri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa and which has recently come to my notice: "Gurus can be had by the thousands, but rare is a disciple." In some temples, it has been seen that the Guru has a separate chamber furnished with relish, where he receives his disciples. While Baba in the same temple sits on a rugged stone, the Guru in his chamber sits on thick mattresses. What a splendid display of bhakti?

*******

I have read in a book recently that a known Guru within no time of his accepting Baba in his life and experiencing His grace, turned into a Guru himself and many devotees started seeking his guidance. If a bull can be made to recite the Vedas through the Grace of God, surely a man could reach any heights in no time on account of his 'Prarabdha'. But in such a case, the change should be total and not partial.

It is difficult for human beings to remain away from the snare of Maya. Human brain easily succumbs to the pleasantries of the make believe world of its own creation and falls prey to all that sounds pleasant to the ears. The path to godliness is very thorny and is difficult to tread without the Sadguru's Kripa. To quote a passage from my diary: "Beautiful words, shining ideas, attractive dreams and fine images are the golden lid which keep the face of Truth covered from our sight. Ifs this veil woven of the golden threads of human imagination and its fond hopes that hides the Sun of Truth from our view." The same way the Gurus of today get lost in Maya when their henchman talk of experiencing their potential in some way or the other. In actual fact, it is a mere camouflage of the reflection of guru's own ego. Let us give this matter a deep thought. Kindly allow me to recite a true story in this connection. A certain person, who had been selected to head an Ashram after the demise of its existing incumbent, was studying in Allahabad University. He was living in the hostel. Lots of pure ghee, dry fruits and other varieties of rich foodstuff were sent to him for his consumption by the Ashram. This young man would however, distribute all this stuff amongst his fellow hosteliers and himself ate very little out of it. When his friends asked him as to why he did so, his reply was that his guru had taught him to eat only a little and that too only satvik food, and since these eatables, were tamsik in nature, he was shunning their use.

Later on when after the death of his Guru, this person took over that ashram, the first thing he did was to get the door of his room removed. According to him, this he did so, the reason that there should be absolutely nothing in the Iife of a person who led others, which should remain concealed from the public gaze. In fact, Sai Baba's life was also an open book for anybody to read.
The predecessor of this young Guru ate food sitting on a high pedestal along with other ashramites sitting on the floor and in gold and silver utensils. He gave up this practice. He would take his food in ordinary utensils sitting along with the ashramites as also serve them with his own hands. Later he consolidated all the funds of the Ashram and spent these on opening 30 schools where the poor children received free education.

Source: saileelas

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Sri Nannagaru

I am a lover of Humanity. My role in this life is to spread the spiritual knowledge and the eternal goodness. Guru - God - Self - all Same The outer guru helps you to turn the mind to where GOD is. The inner Guru pulls the mind into its source. The Guru brings the weakness in the mind to one’s attention. The Guru’s grace gives you the strength to throw out the Vasanas (The tendencies of the mind). It is the Guru’s duty to drag your bad habits out of you and to burn them. God know your habits and tendencies for God is within. Real Guru is true Self. A Guru is absolutely necessary on the path of awakening to one’s true Self. - Sri Nannagaru

Shri Bhupathiraju Venkata Lakshmi Narasimharaju, as has been christened by his parents, born on September 23 1934, hails from a tiny village Kommara in West Godavari Dist., Andhra Pradesh, (India), has settled at Jinnur of the same district. He was born in his grand parent's house. His father Sri Suryanarayana Raju died when he was a child, and his mother Smt. Rajayamma and grand mother have fostered him. His devout family of pious disposition had its own imprints on him in his childhood. He accompanied his grand mother and visited holy places , even as a boy. Sri Sivananda of rishikesh blessed him saying "BE GOOD AND DO GOOD."

He had his early vision of Shri Bhagavan Ramana in a vivid dream in the year 1957, when the Maharshi kissed him on his cheeks thrice and ever since there from, there has been a marked turn in his daily life.He is acclimed and hailed by his devotees and disciples as " NANNA GARU." "Nanna" in telugu meaning "Father" and "Garu" is a honorific. Thus, he is endearingly, called as "Respectable Father."

People throng around him in thousands and listen to him with rapt attention and lisp, "The Raman, Manna," his mouth drops and get surcharged by it, which modulates their lives and they turn towards spirituality. His meditation sittings attract men and women from all corners of the world and those that meditate in his presence aspire for his occasional "piercing" looks, which turn their minds and thoughts from things external towards the "Heart" center. His silence preaches volumes and a single powerful meditative glance of him confers inexplicable bliss.
Sri Nannagaru tours exhaustively to quench the spiritual thirst of his devotees and often visits the holy Kshetra, Arunachala.

Source: http://www.srinannagaru.com/

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Sri Sri Barphani Baba by Padma

Divinity manifests itself periodically to shower its grace on mankind. This is how the mass of men come to realise how much God cares for them. The advent of Barphani Baba is living proof of that grace. The duly recorded day of his birth is Diwali 1792 which means that he is now 206 years old. His disciples say that he has not changed since the last several decades. In fact nobody knows his real age. Some people say he is thousands of years old. Godmen like Barphani Baba are born to fulfil a divinely ordained mission. That is why they take care to see that their physical vehicles have to remain sturdy throughout their sojourn in this world. Barphani Baba stays in his Ashram at Amarkantak on the banks of the holy river Narmada, or at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He also visits the Assam region of the Himalayas. A team of devotees from Viskhapatnam recently had darshan of Sri Barphani Baba and some of the experiences they narrated to the Editor of Mihira are presented in this exclusive feature.

An eye-witness account of Dhunivala Baba

Twenty - year - old Anuradha Bindal from Raipur, one of the close disciples of Barphani Baba had the rare good fortune of seeing Dhunivala Baba, the Master of Shirdi Sai Baba and Barphani Baba. Ms. Bindal narrated her experience to Mihira as follows : "On May 12, 1996, Guruji (Barphani Baba) was performing a Vishnuyajna in Indore. I attended the yajna along with my family members. In the evening, we all saw an old man sitting in a chair on the dais by the side of Barphani Baba. We prostrated to the feet of the venerable looking aged man. The next day, my brother and I again had his darshan and He blessed me by touching my head and gave me a mala (garland of flowers). Later, we came to know that the aged man was none other than Dhunivala Baba, the Master who came to the yajna on Babaji's invitation. Babaji frequently invokes saints who come in physical form to bless the devotees gathered to participate in the yajna."

Ordinary people in their ignorance allow “reservations” and conditioning factors to limit their capacity to find God. That is why they are too preoccupied with outer ritual and miss the divine presence of God. The sayings “nearest to the temple, farthest from God”, seems to be true of people who associate divinity with rules and codes. Purity of heart is what matters rather than ascetic denial, and Sri Ramayan Das reiterates the teaching of his guru Sri Barphani Baba, “The true temple of God is a pure and loving heart”.

Sri Ramayan Das concluded his narration by saying that that one should visit Sri Barphani Baba to experience His divinity

Source: http://www.mihira.com/wisdommasters/dadaji.htm

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

GURU NANNA GARU of BAPATLA by M. He had amazing miraculous powers. He rescued not only me from death bed due to small pox at the age of four but also others. He was kind enough to initiate into 'mantropasana' of Lord Hanuman (Panchamukhi) my father from whom I have learned that saved me from serious problems that I faced in life. Even after his samadhi (leaving his physical body) in 1941, experience showed that He continues guiding people, saving from miseries and doing wrong things. As said, Guru nanna garu made me a yogi and a vedic scholar. I have made automatically drawn over 450 sketches of devatas, maharshis and saints. He also molded me as a scientist of repute. With his grace I was able to make six fundamental physics discoveries. Probably I could be one of the few in the last 100 years in making six fundamental discoveries in any branch of science. The purpose of this article is that readers would hopefully get his guidance and grace when no hope is foreseen.

Guru nanna garu, a great saint lived sixty years ago in Andhra Pradesh demonstrated how a man can evolve himself as ‘Narayana (Hindu God and a form of Vishnu) within the present life’ as described in Narayana Sukta in Yajur Veda. First, as an advocate of Advaita philosophy, exemplified himself as ‘Narayana’. Importantly, He also led his followers to the state of oneness with the God or Narayana. Born in Gudivada, a town in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh and spent his childhood in Nuziveedu, where his elder brother also lived, according to his grand son, C. Appayya Sarma, High Court Advocate in Hyderabad. Most of the times, he has been a wandering guru (parivrajakacharya), who lived up to 1941. He established Maruti Pranavashramam as advocated by ancient Maharshis in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh. He believed that if grace of guru is there one does not need to recite lakhs or millions of any mantra Japam like many others we see or hear. By the time, his followers came to be in contact with Guru nanna garu He has been already a great yogi, a sadhu, highly evolved spiritual master, and a perfect Godly man. He demonstrated that one could attain higher levels of consciousness while leading family life.

It is a fact that mahatmas (saints) continue to guide followers and the people at large even after they shed their physical body. Miracles do happen signifying their divine presence. Guru nanna garu is no less than Shirdi ki Sai Baba, Raghavendra Swamy of Mantralayam, Guru Nanak, or Jesus Christ. Guru nanna garu was truly God in human form, ‘Paramapurusha’, as described in the scriptures. Many happenings in my life convinced me that Guru nanna garu continues to protect, guide and lead us as beacon light.

Source: http://www.geocities.com/raomap/gurunannagaru.html

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogiMaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://viswasai.blogspot.com/2007/08/guru-nanna-garu-of-bapatla-by-m.html' title='GURU NANNA GARU of BAPATLA by M. But His meaning was deep and all-pervading. The words could not be commented upon in Vedic, darshanic and ecclesiastical words. The interpreter could not analyze or plunge into his truth fully. His words were exuding direct veracity of life and spirit. I therefore, quote him without my intermediary or symbolic diction.

Vows and Welfare:
Baba: I cater to your prayers and demands to fulfill your longings. You approach Me again and again with new demands. Do not take for granted that My mission is to feed your wants. It is true that I am bound by your love. However, the real reason why I fulfill your wishes is that there is stark ignorance in you which makes such childish demands. I wait with hope that you would realise your ignorance one day and begin to desire and want what I really yearn to give to you, realising where your welfare lies. I thirst for this fortunate and divine hour in your life.

This opportunity will never recur:
My dear children, God is standing before you in person in flesh and blood in the frame of Sai. This is a most fortunate and uplifting hour. The moment will never come again. God is standing in front of your door with a begging bowl in His hand. Awake, arise and try to know His divine identity and purpose. Sai is begging you to select the ultimate way of welfare and fill His bowl. This is a rare opportunity in your existence. If you fail to understand, you will be an eternal loser.

Offering to God:What will you offer to the Lord begging at your door?
You have nothing of your own to give Him. All things in this universe belong to Him. You cannot deceive Him by offering Him worldly objects like flowers, water, fruit or even golden or more precious articles on earth. You have nothing of your own except your body, mind, intellect and ego. You can offer these things to Him. This is known as dedication and surrender. Sai means this offering only when He speaks of Faith and Perseverance. You have to be vacant leaving everything at His feet and follow His dictates by installing Him at the helm of the chariot of your existence.

What you can demand from Sai?
My dear children, my Guru's wealth is lying in the field in abundance. I am waiting to see when you realise the wealth and approach me for gifting you with the fortune. This fortune is not different from the wealth of liberation which is my Guru's treasure. You make claims for all other things except my Guru's treasure. You ask for petty worldly things. When will you ask for the recitation of name and meditation of form? When will you merge in God in absolute surrender? I cannot give you your choicest treasure unless you stop demanding material benefits and turn your face to the Lord.

Ask for your ultimate welfare:
My dear sons and daughters, rise up from your slumber of ignorance and long for God's love, proximity and merger with him. Do not ask for temporary, transient and fleeting interest in life. Worldly object can be achieved by labour and efforts. My fakir sarkar's gifts are limitless and eternal. They are liberating, relieving and uplifting. Ask for the auspicious and undying objects that God wishes to grant you. Ask for His eternal grace. Do not turn your face away from Godly gifts of grace for petty material worldly benefits.

Comprehension

Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji once made an observation: "Every word, every image used for God is a distortion more than a description:"
Devotee: "Then how does one speak of God?"
Swamiji: "Through silence."
Devotee: "Why then do you speak in words?"
At that Swamiji smiled and said: "When I speak, you mustn't listen to the words, my dear. Listen to the silence."

Meaning
A visitor to Sri Sai Spiritual Centre told a devotee: "I have traveled a great distance to listen to Sri Radhakrishna Swamiji, but I find his words quite ordinary.
Devotee: "Don't listen to his words, Listen to his message."
Visitor: "How does one do that?"
Devotee: Take hold of a sentence that he says. Shake it well till the entire words drop off. His devotees believe that HE has been living for Aeons of years. Swamiji is very well known in Kerala, where he has lakhs of devotees. He had lived in a lot of places under different names. Swamiji attained Samadhi at Omalur in Kerala in the year 1986. The samadhi rituals were performed by Brahmasri Siddharajan Swamiji. Although it is impossible to write everything about a Paramahamsar in a single document, a honest attempt has been made in the following article.

A Short Biography

The popular story told in Kerala about Lord Parasurama throwing the axe in order to indicate the limit of Keralam land is a well-known Malayalam proverb. Keralam is a land, which lengthens itself from Kokarnam to Kanyakumari. Moreover it was Parasurama who gave charity to sixty-four Namboodiri Brahmins as a mark of Parasurama's liberation from his sin for his having cut off his mother's head. These Namboodiri's made the salvation of Parasurama possible. Aghawormana and Azhwanzcheri Mutt are places of Parasurama's dwelling. Two important details must be grasped in connection with the names of above two time-honored families.
Aghawormanai is an abode of the family of Namboodiri Brahmins who hail from Varuruji Maharishi, while Azhwancheri is a place of Samuthiri family, which descends or comes from the same Rishi, but their origin of birth is a little different. There are differences between the two places and the two families associated with them. Aghawormanai Namboodiri's belong to the Suryavamsa and the Azhwanzcheri Samuthiri's come from the tradition of Agnihotra Vamsa (tradition or dynasty). The Azhwanzcheri heritage goes into the making of Prabhakara Siddhayogi. Aghawormanai had such a large area that no imagination could so easily visualize. There were about 917 desavazhis (which are equivalents to big villages) in Agawormanai.
Aghawormanai .

Pambatti Siddhar Samadhi

Pambatti siddhar and Prabhakaran had maintained the spiritual relation of a Guru-Sishya. The soul of Pambatti siddhar went into the body of Prabhakaran and in the same manner, the soul of Prabhakaran went into the body of Pambatti siddhar. These two bodies became the same by the act of exchanging souls within themselves. This experience of one soul of a body entering into another soul of another body is known as metempsychosis or transmigration of souls. Then Pambatti siddhar and Prabhakaran came to Dwaraka and they stayed there for many days. They visited Athirimalai and met Athiri Maharishi. From there they moved towards Sankarankoil. There they installed the divine statue of Gomathiyamman. The Guru and the Sishya were preparing for a new spiritual life for the benefit of the mankind. As soon as the sacred ceremony of installing the divine statue was over, near a forest, known as Punnaivanam, Pambatti siddhar transformed his body and entered into a state of eternal living samadhi (Nirvigalpa Samadhi). His Sishya Prabhakara Siddhayogi arranged for the samadhi of his Guru in a very fitting and appropriate manner.

The Spiritual Dignity of our Siddhayogi

The Kottayam Advocate, A.G.Menon and his faimily had the privilege of seeing Brahmananda Sri Sivaprabhakara Siddhayogi Paramahamshar for three hundred years. The books that he wrote record the valuable information that the Swami appeared to be the forty-five year Sadhu for nearly four generations of his family worshippers and observers. Maiyilpura Vaithiyan who comes in the nineteenth generation of our Swami lived in Krishnapuram. He was in the habit of worshipping Prabhakara Swami until the last day of his forefather's Samadhi.
Swami took nearly fifteen bodies and each body can be estimated as having an age of at least fifty years. The actual age of Swami can be arrived at in this way of calculating the average age of each body. This way of calculating leads us to determine the age of Swami as 724. That the age of Swami is 724 is known in his final Samadhi and this information is brought out in the Swami's Birthday celebration publication.

Source: http://sripambattisiddhar.com/guruji/sriprabhakarar/index.htm

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogi MaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Siddhar's (Siddha's)

Who is a siddha ? A siddha is one who has attained siddhi, i.e. "power, prowess, strength, ability", then a special kind of psychic and supernatural, miraculous, occult power. There are eight kinds of super natural powers called as "Ashtama Siddhis":

Anima (shrinking) -- Power of becoming the size of an atom and entering the smallest beings.
Mahima (illimitability) -- Power of becoming mighty and co-extensive with the universe. The power of increasing one's size without limit.
Lagima (lightness) -- Capacity to be quite light though big in size.
Garima (weight) -- Capacity to weigh heavy, though seemingly small size.
Prapthi (fulfillment of desires) -- Capacity to enter all the worlds from Brahma Loga to the neither world. It is the power of attaining everything desired.
Prakasysm (irresistable will) -- Power of disembodying and entering into other bodies (metempsychosis) and going to heaven and enjoying what everyone aspires for, simply from where he stays.
Isithavam (supremacy) -- Have the creative power of God and control over the Sun, the moon and the elements and
Vasithavam (dominion over the elements) -- Power of control over King and Gods. The power of changing the course of nature and assuming any form.

A classical definition of siddhas is given by Siddhar Thirumoolar: "Those who live in yoga and see the divine light and power through yoga are the siddhars (Tamil Chittar)".
According to Kamil Zvelebil, there are some features which are typical for all or almost all siddhars as a body of thinkers.

First, in sharp opposition to the bhakti tradition, they refuse to allow themselves be carried away by idol worship in particular temples.

Second, in contrast to bhakti which emphasizes passionate devotion to God, the siddhar emphasize knowledge, yoga practice, and character, moral behavior, right conduct. Anger, lust and egoism are the worst sins.

Third, almost all siddhar's raise a protest against caste and casteism.

The whole atmosphere of siddha thinking is empirical and experimental. Their writings are not in the nature of clear cut formalized statements of any well defined doctrine. Hence, it is difficult to extricate a philosophical system out of their writings, at least at the present state of our knowledge of their works. However, it is possible to point out a few essential features, and one day, when their writings are better known, it should be possible to state their philosophy more explicitly.

The 18 Siddhars:

Sri Pathanjali Siddhar
Sri Agasthiar Siddhar
Sri Kamalamuni Siddhar
Sri Thirumoolar Siddhar
Sri Kuthambai Siddhar
Sri Korakkar Siddhar
Sri Thanvandri Siddhar
Sri Sundaranandar Siddhar
Sri Konganar Siddhar
Sri Sattamuni Siddhar
Sri Vanmeegar Siddhar
Sri Ramadevar Siddhar
Sri Nandeeswarar Siddhar
Sri Edaikkadar Siddhar
Sri Machamuni Siddhar
Sri Karuvoorar Siddhar
Sri Bogar Siddhar
Sri Pambatti Siddhar

Source: http://sripambattisiddhar.com/siddhars/

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogi MaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>

Jillellamudi AMMA-Mathrusri Anasuya Devi

"Divinity manifests itself in us as long as we perceive the divinity in others"

The Sacred land of India, so potently blessed by the spiritual practices of ancient adepts, has hosted several distinguished Incarnations (avatars) of the Divine Mother in the last hundred years. In 1923, in a backward area near India’s east central coast, the Mother Light emanated a form for the sake of suffering humanity: this was Anasuya Devi, clearly one of the grandest spiritual presences ever to be embodied on this planet. Yet Anasuya Devi is still not well known over most of her native country, not in the West, undoubtedly because she did not travel but spent virtually all of her adult life in the little village of Jillellamudi in Andhra Pradesh State. Nevertheless, local crowds swell to as many as 100,000 or more persons on festival days to see this “Mother of all” and be inspired by her all-forgiving love.

Little Anasuya was born at dawn on March 28, 1923, an auspicious day on the Hindu lunar calendar, in the village of Mannava (near Ponnur in the Guntur District). Her birth came in the wake of numerous lovely visions and spiritual experiences that graced her well-to-do Brahmin parents before and during pregnancy.

This was clearly a special child: the little one did not cry for milk, and would seem interested in sucking only when the breast was offered. Anasuya also seemed adept at going into a Samadhi trance-state in early infancy, because her breath would often be suspended, once for a period of four days! Anasuya was apparently fully conscious of her surroundings at birth—for later she reported clear memories of various details from this time. It is most strange but also highly auspicious that a dog and a cat came to expire at her feet, and no less than eleven persons from her mother’s and father’s families died during her first four weeks of life. This was interpreted as a sign that she was embodying a great light that drew people’s spirit straight away back into God.

At 19 moths, Anasuya was observed to be seated in the “full lotus” yogic posture, deeply immersed in an unshakable Samadhi state. A visiting holy man told little Anasuya’s mother, and later another holy man told her father (who was the village karanam or accountant), that the child was a special manifestation of God. At the age of two and a half years she came to the rescue of a destitute woman by selflessly giving her own train ticket and golden bracelet. When Anasuya was only three or four years old, mother Rangamma experienced a stupendous vision of her daughter’s spiritual glory as the Divine Mother, and shortly thereafter expired. Amma not only did not know any grief over her mother’s passing, she profoundly challenged her father, grand father and others to view death in a new light, as a return of the birthless and deathless spirit to God. Moreover the little girl demonstrated a total clairvoyance about the details of what was happening at the cremation ground some distance away.

A short time before her year of hospitalization began, namely on May5, 1936, Amma, age 13, had married her cousin, Nageswara Rao who in later life would be known as Nannagaru (“respected father”). Amma persisted in marrying him though her family had been resisting the marriage for several years due to his lower social standing. It turns out that Amma had a clear memory—from the time when she was only one month old—of hearing the women in her household joking that one day she might marry Rao, who had been present as a 10 year-old boy at her naming ceremony a few days before. It was in answer to those words, which everyone else had forgotten, that Amma insisted on marrying Rao a dozen years later. In 1941, Amma, Nannagaru and their new infant son moved to Jillellamudi, a backward, impoverished, faction-ridden little village, eight and a half miles (the last part of a difficult journey) from Bapatla.

On the evening of August 23, 1949, Amma, age 26, was taken to a old female guru, Desiraju Rajamma, for formal mantra-initiation into typical Brahmin-caste form of Hinduism. One hundred pages of provocative dialogue and extraordinary happenings from this encounter have been published, virtually every word and action of Amma’s rich with deeper, multilevel meanings. What happened over the course of that extraordinary night was a remarkable switching of roles, wherein Amma through a masterful, Zen-like use of language and metaphor, artfully served as the real guru. By dawn the old woman was tearfully, joyfully regarding Amma as the Divine Mother incarnate. She had experienced a glorious vision of the Divine Mother in Amma’s presence while the later was in a blessed Samadhi-trance for some three hours. Rajamma demanded that Amma hereafter initiate the masses.

Amma appeared to people in different roles: wizened sage, playful (even mischievous) child, awesome Goddess, and dearest friend. Sometimes she seemed very young, other times very old. Though she was very short in physical stature (under five feet), sometimes she seemed quite tall. One of her biographers, the late Mr. E. Bharadwaja, commented on how she was a marvelous combination of both delicacy and strength. Her eyes, too, were rather paradoxical: they usually radiated a remarkably concerned compassionate quality, yet could also look quite detached and calm at the same time. When seeing her in person or when looking at pictures of Amma, one is struck, not only by her soft, round face with the glowing, fair complexion and sparkling nose rings, but also by the unusually large, red mark of kumkum powder she applied daily to the ajna chakra area between the brows. Usually a small dot worn by Hindu wives, in Amma’s case this tilakam gives the impression of a huge “third eye” looking through oneself into infinity.

(More about AMMA at: http://www.viswajanani.org/whoisamma.htm)

http://www.motherofall.org/introduction_0.html

Akhilandakoti Brahmanda NayakaRajadhiRajaYogi MaharajaSriSamartha SadguruSainath Maharajki Jai

<< “OM SRI SAIRAM GURUDEVA DATTA”>>
